Homemade Oatmeal Raisin Cookies ~ Large Family Recipes
Today on The Large Family Table we’re whipping up six dozen oatmeal raisin cookies and six dozen oatmeal chocolate chip cookies! These cookies are a favorite large family recipe so no matter your family size you may want to go ahead and make the recipe at least once for the full six dozen. These are great to take to neighbors or give as gifts to local service men and women!
*note baking powder is shown in the picture, however, baking soda is what I used – oops 🙂
Homemade Oatmeal Raisin Cookies (or Homemade Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies 🙂
Enjoy this large family recipe for homemade oatmeal raisin cookies or homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
In large mixing bowl add the following:
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3 cups softened butter or margarine
- 3 eggs
- 1 tbs vanilla
Next add in the following additional ingredients:
- 6 cups old fashion oatmeal ((instant oatmeal will work well too))
- 5 cups all purpose baking flour ((you can use wheat flour if you prefer))
- 1 tbs baking soda
- 1/4 tbsp each of cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon if desired ((personal preference, I like adding those flavors in :))
Last mix in raisins or chocolate chips:
- 3 cups raisins or chocolate chips
Preheat Oven to 375 degrees

Mix the sugar, softened butter or margarine, eggs, and vanilla with a hand mixer on medium speed until well blended.
Combined oatmeal, flour, and baking soda with before mentioned ingredients. Mix well.

Lastly mix in the raisins or chocolate chips.

Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough onto baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes on 375. Recipe yields six dozen cookies.
