Real Life Survival Mode Tips for Determined Homeschool Moms
You know friends, I might have to stop this YouTube adventure already (grins). It seems like when I make a video on a topic, I quickly get tested in that area. Oh well…it’ll keep me honest. 🙂
Today’s encouraging video for homeschool moms is Real Life Survival Mode Tips for Determined Homeschool Moms. And guess what? My family and I are currently crawling out of another “survival mode” type experience.
It started with Amelia last week. The dreaded signs and symptoms of some kind of stomach bug. By Easter Sunday we all were laid out with it. When you’re sick there’s really not even too much thought about survival mode. I mean, you’re flat square in the middle of making it through the sickness.
There are several great articles around the web on how to homeschool when you’re sick (and here’s more ideas for when homeschool mom is sick and even dealing with a chronic illness while you homeschool). When we’re sick we pretty much hunker down together and get caught up on great history documentaries on Netflix. I allow myself grace and know it’ll take a few extra days to dig out of the laundry pile. We’re together, we’re a family, and that’s what matters, “in sickness and in health.”
My husband reminded me that Dave Ramsey says often, “Life is a film strip, not a snap shot.” That’s predominately what we need to remember. That’s what I’ve had to remember as I’ve pulled off bed sheets, scrubbed vomit off of walls, and handed out rounds of sippy cups full of Pedia-Lite.
And yes, I keep referring to sickness because that’s my family’s current experience. However, there are many other situations that can bring on a full blown survival mode day.
