Pop your frozen chicken into the Instant Pot. Can we stop for a minute and appreciate the fact that our Instant Pots allow us to cook stuff from a frozen state. How amazing is that? Add just the juice from the can of pineapples to the chicken and cover with bbq sauce. Keep the pineapple slices for serving later.

Lock your lid on, set the valve to closed, and set the Instant Pot on manual for 12 minutes. You read that right. 12 minutes to cook chicken breasts from a frozen state. What a wonderful world we live in! After it beeps done, let it natural release for 5 minutes then do a quick release.

Instant Pot Hawaiian Chicken Sliders Recipe

Check the internal temperature of the chicken to be at least 165 degrees. We don’t want to make anyone sick. If the temperature is fine then remove chicken to shred on a plate. Turn Instant Pot to saute and allow the sauce to reduce and thicken. When it’s thick enough to coat the shredded chicken, place chicken back in pot and toss gently.

Description

This instant pot Hawaiian chicken recipe is perfect for a light meal. The flavor is out of this world and it is so easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 1 (3 pound) bag individually frozen boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 (18 ounce) bottle barbecue sauce
  • 1 (20 ounce) can pineapple slices in juice
  • 1 (15 ounce) package hawaiian slider buns, sliced
  • 12 slices smoked provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Place frozen chicken in liner of electric pressure cooker.
  2. Pour juice from canned pineapples over the chicken. Reserve the sliced pineapple for serving.

  3. Pour barbecue sauce over chicken.

  4. Cover the electric pressure cooker and set the valve to sealing. Program using “manual” or “pressure cook” for 12 minutes.

  5. When the pressure cooking cycle is complete, allow a natural release for 5 minutes before quick release.

  6. Check the chicken for an internal temperature of 165 degrees. (Cooking times may vary based on the thickness of the chicken breast and type of pressure cooker.)

  7. Remove the chicken from the pressure cooker and shred with two forks.

  8. Meanwhile, set the pressure cooker to “saute” and allow the sauce to reduce until thickened enough to coat the shredded chicken. Toss the chicken back into the pressure cooker and stir to blend with the sauce.

  9. Serve shredded chicken on slider buns with choice of toppings: smoked provolone cheese, sliced pineapple, cole slaw, etc.

Serve on a Hawaiian slider bun with your choice of toppings. A great side dish for this Hawaiian Chicken Sliders Recipe is marinated cucumber salad. Steamed broccoli, carrot sticks or salad would also work too. If you want to carb load the plate , have a twice baked potato or macaroni and cheese.
