The Ingredients You Will Need to Make the Large Family Cheesy Sausage and Croissant Casserole

You do not need too many ingredients to make the Large Family Cheesy Sausage and Croissant Casserole. You will only need:

  • Eggs. Use 16 eggs to prepare this large casserole that will serve the entire family, even if you have many mouths to feed.
  • Pork Sausage. Be sure to cook your pork sausage in advance and drain it before adding it to this recipe.
  • Italian Cheese Blend. The Italian cheese blend goes great with the eggs and sausage while making the casserole creamy and cheesy.
  • Mini Croissants. Rip your mini croissants into pieces before adding them with your other ingredients to make this casserole.

You will need just a few other ingredients, including salt, pepper, milk, Worcestershire sauce, to make this casserole.

How to Freeze or Store Your Cheesy Sausage and Croissant Casserole

  1. FREEZER MEAL DIRECTIONS
    1. After you assemble the casserole you can freeze it before you bake it.
    2. Wrap each 9×13 pan with two layers of foil.
    3. Label the top of each pan with the recipe name and date.
    4. Wrap each 9×13 pan with a layer of plastic wrap.
    5. Set each pan to freeze in the freezer. Do not stack the pans on top of one another until each pan is individually frozen.
  2. THAWED COOKING DIRECTIONS
    1. Set the desired pans of casserole out in the refrigerator the evening before you’d like to serve.
    2. Preheat your oven to cooking temperature.
    3. Remove plastic wrap and one layer of foil.
    4. Place casserole in preheated oven as directed above or until bubbly and hot. Remove the last layer of foil and allow to cook for 10 additional minutes.
    5. Allow your hot casserole to slightly cool on the counter for 5-10 minutes before serving.
  3. FROZEN COOKING DIRECTIONS
    1. If cooking your casserole from completely frozen (this happens in real life :), remove plastic wrap and one layer of foil and place the frozen casserole in a preheated oven at the recommended temperature. Cook as the recipe recommends or until hot and bubbly. Remove the last layer of foil and cook uncovered for an additional 10 minutes as needed.

You can save the Large Family Cheesy Sausage and Croissant Casserole for later after you bake it by slicing it into single-serve pieces, wrapping each piece in plastic wrap, and then placing the pieces in a large freezer bag that you can seal shut.

You can put your casserole in the fridge to stay fresh for two days as leftovers to pull out and reheat.

Although the Large Family Cheesy Sausage and Croissant Casserole is as good as you can expect it to be, you can add other ingredients to the dish if you want to. You may want to add some cooked bacon pieces to go with the sausage if you would like a meatier casserole dish. If you do not eat pork, you can use beef or turkey sausage. You can also add more cheese to the dish if you would like it to taste even cheesier.

Description

Make the perfect breakfast casserole to enjoy with your loved ones with this Large Family Cheesy Sausage and Croissant Casserole. It is as savory as you would expect with such wholesome ingredients, including pork sausage, eggs, and a shredded Italian cheese blend.

 


Ingredients

  • 16 eggs
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cups shredded Italian cheese blend
  • 2 pounds pork sausage, brown and drained
  • 2 (13 ounce) packs mini croissants, torn into pieces

 


Instructions

  1. Prepare two 9×13 casserole dishes with nonstick cooking spray. Divide the torn croissants between the casserole dishes, covering the bottom but not pressing together. 

  2. Over the croissants, sprinkle the sausage and then the cheese.

  3. Whisk together the eggs, milk, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper.

  4. Divide the mixture between the two casseroles, pouring evenly over the croissants.

  5. Cover and refrigerate overnight or freeze up to 3 months.

  6. When ready to cook, remove the casseroles from the refrigerator as the oven preheats (about 30 minutes.) Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Bake for 45 to 55 minutes or until the eggs are set.
