The Ingredients to Make Freezer Friendly Homemade Granola Bars

To prepare the Freezer Friendly Homemade Granola Bars, gather the following ingredients in your kitchen:

  • Rolled Oats. These granola bars contain oats, but make sure you do not use the quick-cooking options.
  • Brown Sugar. The brown sugar adds flavor to the granola bars and creates a sticky consistency that keeps other ingredients together.
  • Vanilla Extract. For notes of vanilla, the vanilla extract is a must-add to these tasty granola bars.
  • Dried Fruit. Add some of your favorite dried fruit to the mix if you please.
  • Chocolate Morsels. Create a chocolatey taste with your granola bars by adding chocolate morsels to the mix.
  • Ground Flax. Using flax in this recipe will make your granola bars even more nutritious and flavorful.

You will also need a handful of other ingredients, including nut butter, salt, water, cereal or crushed pretzels, and chopped nuts.

How to Store Your Freezer Friendly Homemade Granola Bars

You can store the Freezer Friendly Homemade Granola Bars when you have plenty available for your family to eat for the next few weeks. You should cut the granola bars into pieces while it is still warm, lay the bars on parchment paper, and wait for them to cool down a bit before you wrap them individually in plastic wrap. You can leave some in the fridge and put the others in the freezer to eat later. It is safe for you to freeze the granola bars for up to six months.

Ways to Customize Freezer Friendly Homemade Granola Bars

You can customize each batch of the Freezer Friendly Homemade Granola Bars by switching out the ingredients. One tasty option is a chocolate and peanut butter granola bar with chocolate morsels, chopped peanuts, and your favorite nut butter. You can add assorted dried fruit to the granola bars, including dried cherries, dried pineapple chunks, and dried blueberries.

Use any dried fruits that you enjoy eating. Experiment with different ingredients that will taste great together. Description

Need the perfect nutritious breakfast treat to make for the family? Prepare these Large Family Freezer Friendly Homemade Granola Bars that will taste great while keeping you full until lunch.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups rolled oats (not quick-cooking oats)
  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt (skip if using pretzels)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ⅓ cup nut butter
  • ½ cup cereal or crushed pretzels
  • 1 cup ground flax
  • ¾ cup chopped nuts
  • 1 cup dried fruit or chocolate morsels

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Prepare a large baking sheet (or two small baking sheets) with parchment paper.

  2. Toss oats with melted butter until well coated. Spread oats on the baking sheet.

  3. Toast in the oven, stirring every 5 minutes, for 15 minutes total or until golden. Remove from the oven and cool.

  4. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, stir together the brown sugar, maple syrup, water, vanilla extract, and nut butter. Stir until the sugar is melted and thoroughly combined. Bring to a boil and immediately remove from heat.

  5. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, stir together the cooled oats, cereal or pretzels, ground flax, nuts, and dried fruit or morsels.

  6. Pour the sugar syrup over the dry ingredients and stir until completely combined. You might need to use greased hands to completely mix.

  7. Transfer the granola to the prepared baking sheet. Press tightly in a level rectangle.

  8. Bake in the 325 degree oven for 25 minutes.

  9. For best results, lift the granola from the baking sheet to a curing board using the parchment paper. Cut the granola bars while warm using a sawing motion with the knife. Trying to force the knife through the granola will cause it to crumble.
