The Must-Have Ingredients to Make the Low Carb Bacon Breakfast Casserole
Enjoy this delicious casserole made with the freshest and simplest ingredients, including:
- Eggs. Make sure you have a dozen eggs to make this casserole so that you’ll have enough food for everyone in the household.
- Milk. Use milk to make the eggs stretch a bit further while giving them a fluffier texture.
- Bacon. Cook your bacon, crumble it into pieces, and then add it to the casserole.
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese. Include shredded cheddar cheese for more flavor and added creaminess.
Besides these ingredients, you’ll need salt and pepper to season the casserole. If you like any other seasonings on your eggs, such as red pepper flakes, everything bagel seasoning, or cajun seasoning, feel free to add them into the casserole.
What can I use if I don’t have milk?
If you don’t have any milk left at home, you can substitute it for half-and-half or heavy cream, both of which will add flavor to the eggs, making them creamier and tastier.
Which type of bacon should I use and how can I cook it?
Use pork or turkey bacon, whichever you like most. It doesn’t matter which brand you choose to use, along with the specific flavor of the bacon. Just make sure that it’s the type of bacon your family likes eating. You can cook your bacon in the air fryer or I have an easy recipe to make the bacon in the oven.
Can I use a different type of cheese?
If you love American cheese with your eggs and bacon, you can use it as a replacement for the cheddar cheese. If you’re a cheese lover, you can add both American and cheddar cheese to this dish. Another option would be to add pepper jack or bleu cheese to add a different flavor or to spice things up.
What are some other ingredients I can add to the casserole?
While the Low Carb Bacon Breakfast Casserole tastes great with the eggs, cheese, and bacon crumbles, you can add a few other ingredients if you’d like. Chopped red onion, green peppers, and diced tomatoes are three of several tasty ingredients that will go well in this casserole. Spinach, sauteed mushrooms, and sausage crumbles are a few other ingredients to consider using when experimenting with the casserole.
Can I save the leftovers?
You can save your leftovers! All you need to do is carefully wrap the casserole dish in aluminum foil and place it in the fridge to keep your egg mixture fresh. Make sure you’re eating the leftovers within two days of preparing this meal.
