Ingredients For Make-Ahead Seafood Casserole

If you plan on making the Make-Ahead Seafood Casserole, make sure you have several important ingredients that give the dish its great taste, such as:

  • Long Grain and Wild Rice. Adding rice to this dish is important because it pairs well with the seafood and makes the casserole more filling.
  • Lump Crabmeat. You cannot have a seafood casserole without delicious lump crabmeat.
  • Frozen Shrimp. Grab some frozen shrimp to add to this casserole. Make sure it is deveined and peeled.
  • Green Peppers. Use green peppers to give the dish an extra crunch with even more flavor.
  • Mushroom Stems and Pieces. The mushroom stems and pieces are the perfect addition to this tasty seafood casserole.
  • Mayo. A little mayo helps to create the perfect creamy consistency for the dish.
  • Butter. You will need to add butter to the casserole dish with the mayo.

Along with these essentials, you should have panko breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, milk, pimientos, celery, and onions ready to add to this dish.

How to Freeze the Make-Ahead Seafood Casserole

If you would like to prepare the Make-Ahead Seafood Casserole in advance for your large family, prepare the casserole dish as you typically would without adding the breadcrumb topping to it. You should cover the casserole dish tightly using foil and a casserole lid.

Put it in the fridge and bake it within two days, or put it in the freezer and bake it within three months. If you have it in the freezer, you should pull it out the night before you plan on baking it and give it time to thaw out in your fridge.

Add the breadcrumb topping to the casserole before placing it in the oven and heating it. You will need to bake the casserole for at least 40 minutes at 375F. When it starts to bubble on the sides and has that freshly crisp appearance, it is good to go.
