Homeschool Life

I’m 39 weeks pregnant and trusting in the Lord’s timing for Amelia Elaine to officially join us. I had an ultrasound this week to check her weight. I always have big babies. My midwife said she believes that the Lord anointed me for child-birth. I agree. 😉  At this point Miss Amelia measures at 40 weeks and weighs approx 8.7 lbs.

January has been a slow and steady month for us. I mentioned in my 38 week update that I have a massive case of the end-of-pregnancy lazies. I know, I know, I’m not lazy – I’m growing a human. Over the last few weeks I’ve just given in to the fact that it’s okay to sit and do nothing.

We have made it outside for a few snow days. We’ve received nothing more than an inch or two.

Liam Joseph, our New Years baby, turned two. I made him a giant chocolate chip cookie with ice cream and placed his favorite Thomas train on top. Instant wonderful mommy points. Confession: I ate an entire roll of cookie dough while making this.

Naomi loves to pull out her workbox and get creative. She’s very artsy and will create for hours.

Liam (2) and Gabriel (3) love sorting. They sort beads, beans, Legos, and rice.

I’m very unoriginal when it comes to homeschooling toddler/preschool years. You can read about our easy-going early years of homeschool here.

Jadin (12) and Zion (9) got a new laptop for Christmas. This was mainly because a friend blessed us with two years of Teaching Textbooks.  Jadin continues to devour any WWII reading. He also loves his airsoft guns and making Lego movies. He has led the troops in my slow-motion this month. Him and Zion rotate washing dishes and help keep the laundry in motion. I consider these great life skills. We’ve also tvschooled and watched Drive-Thru History on Netflex. I love that it is faith-based and history rich. Watch it if you haven’t yet.

Zion reads anything he can get his hands on.  He also reads often to his little brothers. I lost my voice for nearly a week this month but story-time still continued thanks to Zion.

We’re not too terribly exciting at the moment, but we’re keeping our patient watch for Amelia and enjoying the slow indoor days of winter.
