Big Family Instant Pot Cheeseburger Macaroni | Dinner Ideas for a Large Family

Use your Instant Pot to create the most flavorful macaroni and cheese. Try this Big Family Instant Pot Cheeseburger Macaroni that is simple enough to prepare, slightly meaty, and perfectly cheesy. It is the perfect dish to serve to your loved ones for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 pounds ground chuck
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon dry mustard
  • 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup tomato paste
  • 6 cups beef broth
  • 1 16 ounce package elbow macaroni
  • 1 ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded monterey jack
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Using the saute mode, heat the electric pressure cooker until “hot.” Add the ground beef and onion, cooking until the beef is browned and crumbled. Drain well. Cancel the saute mode.
  • Meanwhile, in a large bowl, whisk together the garlic, dry mustard, worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, and beef broth.
  • Return the beef to the pressure cooker and and top with elbow macaroni. Pour the beef broth mixture over the macaroni. Do not stir.
  • Place the lid on the electric pressure cooker and set the valve to sealing. Set the pressure cooker to “manual” or “pressure cook” for 5 minutes. Quick release the pressure when the cook cycle is complete.
  • Stir the sour cream and cheese into the pasta. 
  • Serve topped with additional cheese or garnished with fresh parsley.

For the slow cooker:

  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef and onion until the beef is browned and crumbled. Drain well. 
  • In the slow cooker crock, stir together all ingredients EXCEPT the cheese and sour cream. Cover and cook on low 6 to 8 hours. 
  • Stir the cheese and sour cream into the pasta and serve.
