We get a huge pile sorted for thrift store donations and so much more. We also do free-style big batch freezer cooking making salmon cakes. I use 12 cans of salmon from the basement pantry. Dinner is done for this night, plus we get salmon cakes in the freezer for a few dinners to come, yay!

I have BIG plans for starting my seeds in my basement!! Here in Virginia, we can’t do much outdoor gardening until after Mother’s Day. I’ve learned some tough gardening lessons in our homestead that we bought in 2020 and we just didn’t get the light I thought we’d get. This year, Mr. Travis is setting up a fabulous grow light area in our basement! Yes & Amen!!!
That sounds like a wonderful plan, but we have a situation in our basement. It desperately needs decluttering. Join me in this video as I work through allll the large family things we store in the basement, get some bags ready for donation, and get tons more done!
40 minutes into the project, I took a break and checked our progress. We already had tons of goodies to give to our local thrift store, Gift & Thrift! Take a trip down memory lane to see which items we remember. We come across so many items I’ll be able to bless another family with. We see great finds like rugs, a printer, and organization items like pan organizers and a lazy susan!
Then we move onto working on the shelves where I keep our items for future projects and decor, children’s clothing, and my grocery store in my basement!
I’m proud of us! We did some things with the situation in our basement. By the end of this mega momma day, I was mega momma done. We cleared out a very nice space for Mr. Travis to set up our grow lights. Plus, gathered tons of wonderful items for the thrift store and made some sense of all the things we need stored in our basement.

After all this, I still needed to feed my family! I fried up some salmon cakes in my Lodge cast iron skillet and froze some for later. Yes & Amen!!
