Cut Peaches in baking pans on a counter

Big Batch Peach Crisp Recipe

This is an easy summer dessert that can be made with peach slices, rolled oats, a baking dish, and a few other things. It’s fresh, sweet, and delicious. This is the best homemade peach crisp and the perfect time of year to make it.

Ingredients for Peach Crisp with Fresh Peaches

Making this easy fresh peach crisp recipe only takes a few ingredients. You probably have most of them on-hand already, other than the sliced peaches.

  • 1/2 bushel of fresh juicy Peaches – sweet ripe peaches taste best.
  • 10 cups All Purpose Flour – cake flour can be substituted if necessary.
  • 8 cups Brown Sugar – I substituted white sugar in my recipe and it worked just fine.
  • 4 cups cold Butter – softened butter works best when it’s time to mix the flour mixture.
  • 1/4 cup Cinnamon – brings out the sweetness of the peaches.
  • 1/8 cup Nutmeg – complements the cinnamon
  • 1/8 cup Salt – helps rise the crisp
  • 8 cups of Quick Oats, Steel-Cut Oats, or some other oats

You can also add-in lemon juice or vanilla extract, however, it is not included in this recipe.

How to Make Big Batch Peach Crisp with Fresh Peaches

Making a big batch of Peach Crisp is easier than you might think, and it’s the best way to enjoy the sweetness of fresh peaches in a delightful dessert.

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Wash your peaches in cold water.
  3. With a paring knife, gently peel and slice the fresh peaches, placing them in a baking pan.
  4. Combine the dry ingredients for the crumble topping in a large mixing bowl, and sprinkle it evenly over the peach mixture.
  5. Use a slotted spoon to help distribute the topping mixture on top of the peaches in an even layer.
  6. Place it into the oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown.

How to Serve or Serving Suggestions

To serve Peach Crisp, let it cool to room temperature to allow the flavors to settle. Then, scoop it into individual bowls and top each serving with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra indulgent treat. You might enjoy vanilla bean ice cream for a special treat.

You can also use Greek yogurt if that’s what you have on hand.

How to Store Fresh Peach Crisp

To store Peach Crisp, allow it to cool completely after baking. Transfer any leftovers into an airtight container to maintain its freshness. You can store the crisp at room temperature for up to 2 days.

If you need to store it for a longer period, consider refrigerating the Peach Crisp for up to 4-5 days. Reheat individual portions in the oven to restore the delightful crisp texture before serving.

Expert Recipe Tips

This peach dessert is a great recipe, however, you can make it even better with these helpful tips.

  • Ripe peaches work best. They are fragrant and slightly soft to the touch. Buy them at a local orchard or farmer’s market.
  • Be sure to use softened butter as it will make your flour mixture easier to mix.
  • Rolled oats are better than quick oats for Peach Crisp because their hearty texture adds a delightful chewiness to the crumble topping.
  • You’ll know it’s finished when the filling is bubbly.
  • Do not use canned peaches. They contain too much moisture and the recipe will not set up.
  • It’s perfectly fine and tastes better to leave the peach skin on.
