What You’ll Need to Make Instant Pot Lentil Soup
Make your Large Family Instant Pot Lentil Soup using these important ingredients:
- Onion. Dice the onion into small pieces.
- Carrots. Use a ½ pound of carrots, chopped into small pieces.
- Celery. Grab three stalks of celery and dice the stalks into pieces.
- Dried Lentils. You’ll add two cups of the dried lentils into the mixture with your veggies and other ingredients.
- Vegetable Broth. Use the broth as the base for your soup.
- Red Pepper Flakes. Include some red pepper flakes to give your soup an even better taste.
- Crushed Tomatoes. Pour the crushed tomatoes into the mixture with the broth.
Other ingredients to use to make the soup include ground cumin, thyme, salt, black pepper, diced tomatoes, and kale. When using kale, chop it into fine pieces.
Is this soup spicy?
The Instant Pot Lentil Soup isn’t spicy. It has only a small amount of red pepper flakes added to it for flavor, but it’s not an overwhelmingly spicy taste. If you’d like to kick up the heat, you can add more red pepper flakes and other spicy seasonings to your soup to make it taste spicier.
How long does it take the soup to cook?
Once you’ve prepped the ingredients and added them to your Instant Pot, it will take around 25 minutes to cook the soup. If you don’t have an Instant Pot, you can use your slow cooker to prepare the soup. When using the slow cooker, put it on the low heat setting and allow the soup ingredients to cook for about eight hours before you serve it.
When do I add the kale to the soup?
Add kale to the soup at the end as a finishing touch. Mix it in and watch as the kale begins to wilt when it touches the hot liquid.
What should I serve with the Instant Pot Lentil Soup?
You can add some parmesan cheese on top of the soup as a finishing touch. It’s also a great meal to serve with a side of crisp French bread with butter spread on top of it. If you want to keep it simple, serve you Instant Pot Lentil Soup with a side salad consisting of iceberg lettuce, shredded carrot, grape tomatoes, shredded parmesan cheese, and croutons with dressing added on top.
