The Honor Project Movement

A big portion of this month’s shopping went towards shopping for and bringing awareness to the Honor Project Movement. This is a non-profit run by my friend Heather, who helps women and children who are surviving and learning how to thrive in a new reality after leaving abuse. I’ve been blessed to be able to participate in this project over the years with Christmas boxes, RV deliveries, and so much more. Any chance I get, I like to bring awareness to this amazing non-profit that’s supporting women in my local area. If you or someone you know needs help, or you want to get involved, please contact through the website.

A Quick Note About Low FODMAP and Being Human

If you watched the video, you may have noticed that I mispronounced low FODMAP. I learned that term through reading and research, not hearing it spoken out loud, so I did not realize the pronunciation until later. That is okay. Real life learning looks like that sometimes.

For anyone unfamiliar, low FODMAP is a way of eating that reduces certain fermentable carbohydrates that can be harder on digestion for some people. This is simply one tool I am using right now as part of a broader and temporary healing strategy, not a permanent label or rulebook.

I’m sharing a massive freezer cooking and big batch meal prep from scratch for my large family. This wasn’t just regular ol’ meal prep. This was freezer meals, bulk cooking, and serious meal planning to stock the freezer with homemade real food on a budget.

Pro Tip for Stocking Up

As you see, I love to stock up on produce at the local Jon Henry, but we don’t always go through it before it goes bad. So for things like bananas, we will have a banana peeling party! My kids will help me peel the bananas that have seen better days and we cram them into a large Ziploc bag for future adventures. If it can be frozen, it will live there until it’s time to fulfill its destiny.

These bananas get used for smoothies, baking, and all kinds of fun adventures!

January 2026 Total Spent $2795.60

Including our part in the Honor Project, we spent a total of $2795.60 with loads of items going straight into the freezer. We donated $1838.42 worth of food to the Honor Project, leaving us with a monthly spend of $957.18 for my household of 10. That equals to $95.72 per person for the month of January, yey!

What do you make with all this food?

I love bulking up on deals when I see them, which dictates some of the food decisions I then make for my large family for the month. This month we got loads of butter, bananas, and beef – all the good things that start with B! Here are a few ideas with what to do with those items.
