Yay, I think we have this BIG GIVEAWAY thing figured out! You see earlier today I decided I would do a YouTube LIVE and also do two LIVE giveaways. If you’d like to watch the YouTube LIVE you can do so here. I fumble around a bunch (but hey, at least we’re together 🙂 ) and we have a lot of fun chatting up questions from viewers. Silly me, I thought it would be “easy” to host two live giveaways. My plan was to have viewers comment during a certain time period. Then my helper, a mom of 6 who was moderating the comments and helping me behind the scenes during the YT LIVE, would go through the entry comments and use random.org to pick the winner (example: if there were 124 entries, she’d put in numbers 1 through 124 in the random number picker. If the random number picker picked number 47, she’d count the entry comments and the 47th comment would win).
Well, once the giveaway portion started and those comments went flying, the live chat feed wouldn’t let her scroll up the chat after a certain point. There was no way for her to see all the entries. We brainstormed some ideas live and viewers and I hashed out the best way to make this work. (You can watch this all in the YT LIVE replay, lol 😆).
Finally, we landed on, you know what, I clicked the option on the back end of the video to keep the live chat and display it. Surely after the replay of the LIVE video publishes, we’ll be able to go back through the chat and do the original plan with random.org.
The only thing is once the replay was posted, the chat was flying so fast for her that it was difficult for her to even count the number of entries. WHOOPS on my part, so sorry about that. But hey, we all hung out and chatted it up for 90 minutes and had a real good time together!
