What if I Don’t Have Two Bunt Pans?
While the traditional recipe for any Monkey Bread calls for the use of a bunt pan, many busy moms don’t have two sitting around. Don’t worry! There are still other choices for you, although you might have to forgo the classic donut shaped loaf.
You can definitely use other pans: Square Cake pans, Pie pans, Springform pans, and Bread pans can all be used! You’ll need to monitor the bake time in the oven to ensure that center of the bread reaches 190 degrees and is cooked thoroughly. Cooking with these pans creates another trick to watch for- the edges of your Monkey Bread might want to bake a bit crispier than when using the bundt pan. And remember to be a bit more cautious when removing the Monkey Bread from the pan, as it will have a greater tendency to fall apart more easily.
Ingredients You’ll Need for Large Family Monkey Bread
- 2 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 (3.4 ounce) box Cook and Serve butterscotch pudding mix
- 1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tbs ground cinnamon
- 4 pounds (4 loaves) frozen bread dough, thawed
- 1/2 cup salted butter, melted
How To Make Large Family Monkey Bread From Frozen Bread Dough
Is your bread dough all thawed? Make certain before you begin, then start by preheating your oven and greasing you bunt pans.
In a microwave safe bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and butterscotch pudding mix. Remove 1 cup of the mixture and set aside for later. Next, to the remaining brown sugar mixture that’s in the bowl, add 1 cup butter. Microwave for 30 to 60 seconds or until your butter has melted. Pour this mixture into the bundt pan, making certain to level the mixture into the bottom of the pan. This will become your gooey topping once the cake is baked and plated.
Next, add the sugar and cinnamon, to the remaining brown sugar and butterscotch pudding mix. Whisk these together thoroughly and set aside. Now cut each of the thawed bread doughs into approximately 12 pieces (about 1 inch each). You’ll have about 48 pieces when you’re done. Roll each piece in the sugar mixture and then place the rolled dough into the pans, evenly dividing pieces between both pans. This will give you about 24 pieces for each pan.
Once all of the bread dough is rolled and in your pans, go ahead and pour any of the remaining sugar mixture evenly over each of the pans and then drizzle each with the 1/2 cup melted butter.
Now place the pans in a draft-free location and cover them loosely with a towel and to rise until dough is approximately doubled in size. This will take about one hour. If you haven’t reached the doubled size in an hour, recover and wait a bit longer. Bake the monkey bread for 25 to 30 minutes or until the bread has reached an internal temperature of 190 degrees.
Now for the fun part! Once you’ve removed from the oven, don’t wait for it to cool, but place a serving plate over the bundt pan, carefully invert the pan and plate. This allows the monkey bread to fall onto the plate and all of that gooey-gooey goodness to drizzle down the sides.
