What to Add to the Large Family Stove Top Pot Roast

When making the Large Family Stove Top Pot Roast, be sure to create a list of the ingredients needed to give the dish its great taste. The following components are the most important:

  • Chuck Roast. You will make the pot roast using a chuck roast. You can increase the roast’s size based on the number of people living in the home to ensure that you have enough for everyone.
  • Beef Bouillon Granules. Adding the granules to the water with the chuck roast will create a beef-like taste that gives the dish more flavor.
  • Baby Carrots. The baby carrots give this pot roast an added crunch. Carrots go great with the chuck roast.
  • Quartered Red Potatoes. The dish becomes even more filling when you add quartered red potatoes into the mix.

You will need red wine vinegar, canola oil, soup mix, salt, pepper, onion, and celery, along with the ingredients mentioned above. If you do not like celery, you can leave it out, but it does add great flavor to the dish.

Simple Storage Solutions For the Large Family Stove Top Pot Roast

Storing the Large Family Stove Top Pot Roast is simple. If you have a large food storage container, you can pour the contents of your pot roast dish into the container, seal it with a tight lid, and put it in the fridge. Your pot roast will stay fresh for up to four days when left in the refrigerator.

Please do not leave the pot roast out on the kitchen table because it will quickly spoil. If you want to prepare this dish as a make-ahead meal, add your pot roast to the food storage container but place it in your freezer instead of your refrigerator. You can keep the meal in your freezer for about five months.

What to Add to the Large Family Stove Top Pot Roast

You can add extra ingredients to your pot roast if you want to. Some people like to add mushrooms, cabbage, acorn squash, and even elbow macaroni to the Large Family Stove Top Pot Roast. Adding more ingredients to the roast makes it even heartier and filling, which is perfect for when you are cooking for a large family.

Description

Make a meal that will keep your family warm and full with this Large Family Stove Top Pot Roast. The recipe is simple and will leave you with a wholesome dish that your loved ones will want to eat more often!

Ingredients

  • 7 pounds chuck roast
  • 4 tablespoons canola oil
  • 16 cups water
  • 2 envelope soup mix
  • 2 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 4 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 pound baby carrots
  • 2 onion, quartered
  • 4 stalks celery, cut into chunks
  • 4 pounds red potatoes, scrubbed and quartered

Instructions

  1. Rub the salt and pepper onto the roast.

  2. In a large stockpot over medium-high heat, add the oil and allow to heat for 1 minute. Brown the roast on all sides, creating a brown crust.

  3. To the stockpot, add all of the ingredients EXCEPT the carrots, onion, and potatoes.

  4. Bring the liquid to a boil. Cover the stockpot and reduce the heat to simmer on low for 2 to 2 ½ hours.  Check after 1 hour and add more liquid if needed.

  5. After 2 hours, add the vegetables. Continue simmering for 30 minutes more or until the vegetables are fork tender. Remove the roast and vegetables from the liquid.

  6. If a gravy is desired, whisk together 1 cup water and ¼ cup corn starch. Pour the mixture into the pot with the remaining liquid and bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring as needed until thickened.
