Ingredients to Make Cinnamon Swirl Bread
You need to have a few essential ingredients to prepare the Cinnamon Swirl Bread from scratch, such as:
- Active Dry Yeast. Use the yeast to get your bread to rise and bake perfectly.
- Milk. You’ll need to warm a cup of milk before you use it to prepare your bread.
- Sugar. Divide your sugar before you begin using it. You’ll add some sugar to the bread itself and then mix the rest with the cinnamon.
- Butter. Leave your butter out to soften before you use it.
- All-Purpose Flour. Combine the flour with other ingredients to create that soft and smooth bread dough.
- Ground Cinnamon. Don’t forget to add the ground cinnamon to give your bread the perfect taste.
The only other ingredients that you’ll need for this recipe are warm water, egg, and salt.

Which type of sugar do I need to use in this recipe?
Use granulated white sugar when preparing your bread dough before baking it. The sugar will make your bread sweeter to go along with the flavor of the ground cinnamon.
Can I use cinnamon sugar instead of ground cinnamon?
You don’t need to use cinnamon sugar instead of cinnamon because you’re already going to add traditional sugar into the bread mixture with the cinnamon. If you use cinnamon sugar, your bread could come out tasting too sweet, which is why it’s better to use ground cinnamon.
How many loaves of bread does this recipe make?
If you follow this recipe, you can make two regular-sized loaves of the Large Family Cinnamon Swirl Bread or one large loaf. If you prefer big slices, you can stick with making a single large loaf.
How long does the bread need to bake?
You’ll need to let the bread bake for at least 30 minutes. The bread may need to continue baking a few minutes longer until it becomes golden on top.
What should I eat on the bread?
The possibilities are endless with the Large Family Cinnamon Swirl Bread. You can eat eggs on it, spread cream cheese on top of it, cover it with homemade apple butter or peach butter, or even add your favorite jam to it. You might want to slice it into thinner pieces, put it in the toaster, and then enjoy a toasted version of this bread. It all depends on what you like.

Description
Prepare a sweet and delicious bread to eat as a snack or breakfast treat with this Large Family Cinnamon Swirl Bread. You can slice it and enjoy it on its own or with some butter spread over it.
Ingredients
- 4 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast
- ⅓ cup water, warmed between 110 degrees and 115 degrees
- 1 cup milk, warmed between 110 degrees and 115 degrees
- 1 cup sugar, divided
- 2 eggs, room temperature
- 6 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- 5 ½ to 6 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
-
Prepare one large loaf pan or two regular loaf pans with nonstick cooking spray.
-
In a large mixing bowl, stir together the water and yeast. Allow the mixture to rest for 8 to 10 minutes or until a frothy layer has formed on top.
-
To the yeast water, add the milk, ½ cup sugar, eggs, butter, salt, and 3 cups of flour. Beat until well blended.
-
Switch to a dough hook and begin adding the all-purpose flour about ½ cup at a time until a soft dough has formed. Continue kneading with the dough hook for 8 to 10 minutes.
-
Turn the dough out into a lightly greased bowl. Cover loosely and place in a draft-free location to rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
-
Punch the dough down and transfer to a lightly floured surface. Divide in half (for two loaves) or leave in one large loaf. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a large rectangle, approximately 18 inches by 8 inches.
-
In a small bowl, mix together the remaining sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over the dough.
-
Roll the dough up from one long side to the other, pinching the seams to close. Tuck the ends under the bread and transfer to the loaf pan/s.
-
Cover loosely and allow to rest in a draft-free location until doubled, about 1 ½ hours.
-
Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
-
Bake the bread for 30 to 35 minutes or until the top is golden.
-
Remove the bread from the pans and allow to cool completely on a wired rack.
