Spicy Chicken Alfredo
Prepare a traditional dish with a twist when following this flavorful Large Family Spicy Chicken Alfredo. It’s a low-carb, THM-S, and Keto dish consisting of a homemade alfredo sauce made with cream cheese, heavy cream, and a blend of other ingredients. You’ll use creole seasoning or your favorite brand of cajun seasoning to give it that spicy taste that you love. It’s the perfect dish to serve for dinner, but you can also eat it for lunch or whenever you feel like having a wholesome meal.
Important Ingredients to Have When Making Spicy Chicken Alfredo
If you’re going to try the Large Family Spicy Chicken Alfredo, you’ll need to have these essential ingredients:
- Chicken Breast. Make sure you have boneless, skinless chicken breast.
- Chicken Stock. Bring more flavor to the sauce using chicken stock. Make stock with chicken in the instant pot.
- Cajun or Creole Seasoning. Use either seasoning to add spice to your alfredo.
- Cream Cheese. You’ll need a single package of cream cheese for this recipe.
- Parmesan Cheese. The parmesan cheese adds flavor to the alfredo sauce.
- Heavy Cream. Warm the heavy cream before you use it.
You’ll need a few other ingredients, such as green and red bell pepper, garlic powder, salt, pepper, Romano cheese, and xanthan gum.
Can I Use Chicken Thighs?
It’s better to use boneless, skinless chicken breast for this recipe. If you only have boneless, skinless chicken thighs, you can chop them into pieces and use them as an alternative when preparing the Large Family Spicy Chicken Alfredo.
What Can I Do If I Don’t Have Xanthan Gum?
If you don’t have xanthan gum to use for thickening the alfredo sauce, you can always substitute it with cornstarch. Adding a bit of cornstarch to your sauce will get it to have a thicker, creamier consistency. You can replace Xanthan Gum with cornstarch and water with a one-to-one ratio. So one tablespoon cornstarch plus one tablespoon water.
Which Type of Chicken Stock Should I Use?
Do I Need to Use Bell Peppers?
You don’t need to use bell peppers, but they do add flavor and a slight bit of a crunch to the dish. If you only have a specific type of pepper, such as a red bell pepper, it’s fine to just use one, too.
How Can I Make the Spicy Chicken Alfredo Lower Carb?
To make your alfredo lower carb, serve it over a bed of zucchini noodles (zoodles) or cauliflower rice. If you don’t have zucchini or cauliflower, you can eat it on its own or on top of spaghetti squash. The dish will also taste great when served with a fresh side salad consisting of romaine lettuce, iceberg lettuce, shredded carrot, cherry tomatoes, and a low-carb dressing.

Large Family Spicy Chicken AlfredoPrint
Make a satisfying meal with a slight kick using this Large Family Spicy Chicken Alfredo recipe. It’s a creamy dish that you can serve over zucchini noodles to keep it low-carb and healthy for you.
- 4 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast
- 2 cup chicken stock
- 2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 tablespoons cajun or creole seasoning
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
- 2 green bell pepper, seeded and diced
- 2 red bell pepper, seeded and diced
- 4 cups heavy cream, warmed
- 2 cup freshly shredded Parmesan cheese
- 2 cup freshly shredded Romano cheese
- 1 to 2 teaspoon xanthan gum, to thicken
Prepare the slow cooker liner with nonstick cooking spray.
Place chicken breast into the bottom of the slow cooker. Pour the chicken stock over the chicken. Sprinkle the chicken with garlic powder, cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
Cut the cream cheese into cubes and place over the top of the chicken.
Top the cream cheese with the diced bell pepper.
Cover the slow cooker and cook on high for 2 to 3 hours or low for 4 to 5 hours.
Carefully remove the chicken from the slow cooker. Cut into slices, shred, or cube.
Whisk the remaining contents of the slow cooker until the cream cheese is blended with the juices.
To the slow cooker, add the warmed heavy cream and cheeses. Stir in the cheeses and continue stirring until melted.
Sprinkle the sauce with xanthan gum and stir to combine. The xanthan gum will thicken slightly and then continue to thicken as the sauce begins to cool.
If desired, return the chicken to the slow cooker.
Serve the chicken and sauce over zoodles for a low carb option or over regular fettuccine noodles.
Note: This recipe is low carb when served over zoodles. Xanthan Gum can be replaced with 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water.
