Basic Overnight Oats
If having a delicious, hearty, and creamy breakfast sounds good to you, try this recipe for oats because it is just that good. You will feel like you are eating dessert when you are just having breakfast that is good for you.
Even if you are used to eating your oatmeal warm, but you will not believe how good the overnight oats taste while cold. I have the perfect recipe to make for an easy and flavorful breakfast.
Ingredients Needed to Make Overnight Oats
When you prepare the oats, you need some old-fashioned rolled oats to get started. You can easily find these oats in different grocery stores.
In addition to the oats, which are the most important ingredient for the recipe, you will need some milk to add to the glass jar with your oats. I like to use vanilla almond milk with honey, but you can use cow’s milk, oat milk, or any milk that you like most.
Yogurt is another essential ingredient for the overnight oats. I have tried a few different yogurt types when preparing these oats, but my absolute favorite is vanilla Greek yogurt.
I like the yogurt’s consistency and how it mixes perfectly with the other ingredients in this recipe. After adding yogurt, I like to use syrup or honey. You can choose any sweetener that you prefer, including low-calorie options.
What to Add to Your Oats
While this recipe provides you with a detailed list of how to make the best oats, you might want to add a few extras to your oats to make them taste even better.
There is nothing wrong with adding extras to customize the experience and enhance the flavor. I like to add blueberries, raspberries, and even chopped strawberries to my oats. Besides adding fruit, you can add coconut flakes, chopped nuts, chia seeds, and chocolate shreds.
I like to mix it up to always eat a different flavor for each day of the week. I might add chopped almonds and chocolate flakes to one jar, cinnamon, and blueberries to another, and a dollop of peanut butter with sliced bananas to another jar. Make as many flavor combinations as you would like to enjoy your oats even more.
