Slow Cooker Orange Chicken

To make clean up a breeze, be sure to coat your slow cooker with olive oil before adding the other ingredients for Slow Cooker Orange Chicken. Then add cubed chicken breasts. Slow cooker liners are also an option but spraying it is just as effective.

In a medium bowl, whisk together orange juice and all of the other seasonings EXCEPT the cornstarch (or xantham gum; if using). Pour over the chicken and toss to coat.

Once all of your ingredients are added to your slow cooker, cover and cook on high for 2 hours or low for 4 hours. Make sure the chicken is cooked through.

To finish the sauce for the Orange Chicken, remove about 2 tablespoons of the liquid and mix with the cornstarch (or xantham gum; if using) to create a slurry. Cook, stirring often until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. To speed up the process, you can remove the sauce from the slow cooker, place in a medium saucepan and simmer over medium-high heat until thickened. Then, return to coat the chicken.

I like to garnish with toasted sesame seeds, sliced green onions, or dried orange zest, but those are optional. They add a little extra crunch and color. To make Slow Cooker Orange Chicken a complete meal, serve with steamed rice and roasted asparagus.
