Big Family Sheet Pan Hamburger Steak with Mushrooms and Onion

Large Family Hamburger Steak Recipe is truly a game changer for those nights when you want a fancy dinner without all of the work! Easily thrown together and cooked in the oven- it’s dinner all in one pan (Yes! and Amen!)!

Hamburger steak with mushrooms and onions is filled with the flavor hamburger and the goodness of onions. When it’s time to take it out of the oven your entire home will be filled with the enticing aroma.

It’s so easy to throw on a side dish and your beautiful (and easy to prepare) dinner is all ready for feeding your large crowd!

How Do You Serve Hamburgers to a Crowd?

Serving hamburgers to your large crowd can at times be tricky. With so many people to feed at once, it can feel almost impossible to be able to get each burger done to perfection while still remain fresh as you cook the rest of the remaining burgers.

By skipping the grill or stove top, you can go right to the oven using sheet pans in your oven- so easy! This allows for about 15 burgers per pan- and the best part? It frees you up to prepare the rest of the dinner for you large family table.

What Side Can I Make With Hamburger Steak with Mushrooms and Onions?

Want to prepare the perfect side to go with Hamburger Steak and Mushrooms Recipe? A classic pairing is always a safe way to keep your people happy. Try these Slow Cooker Garlic Smashed Red Potatoes.

This Large Family Sheet Pan Roasted Broccoli is also a great choice.This is a great side dish that would pair well with any meat. The second best part about this recipe is how easy it is to throw together. When you need the perfect side dish,  It is simple to make, tastes great, and goes with lots of different entrees.

What You’ll Need On Hand:

  • 3 sweet onions, sliced
  • 1 (16 ounce) package sliced mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 pounds ground beef 
  • 1 yellow onion, grated
  • Bread crumbs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Dijon mustard
  • Eggs 
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 packets brown gravy mix with the ingredients to make gravy

How To Make This Recipe

Once you’ve prepared your baking sheet, and remembered to pre-warm your oven, spread your mushrooms and onions evenly over your baking dish. Next you’ll want to drizzle these with olive oil, then season as desired and toss gently to evenly coat all of your onions and mushrooms.

In a small bowl, combine your bread crumbs and milk, then stir. You want to make certain that all of the breadcrumbs are able to get soaked. Setting the bowl aside for about 5 minutes allows all of the breadcrumbs to absorb the milk.

In you large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, soaked breadcrumbs, sauces, seasonings, and eggs. Once it’s combined well, go ahead and divide into 15 even patties. Next place your patties right on top of your onions and mushroom baking sheet. Place your sheet in the oven and bake for 25 minutes. This is going to smell amazing!

Now you can go ahead and mix your two gravy packets according to the directions on the packages. When your steaks are done cooking, take out the pan and pour the gravy directly over the dinner.
Bake for 25 minutes.

While the hamburger steaks cook, prepare the gravy packets according to the package directions.
Once the steaks have cooked, carefully remove the pans from the oven and pour the gravy over the sheet pans. Set the oven to broil. Return the pans to the oven and watch carefully, broiling for 5 to 8 minutes or until the onions have begun to soften.

Now comes the fun part! Serve them over mashed potatoes or rice!

Description

Filled with the big juicy flavor of your favorite hamburger, this Big Family Sheet Pan Hamburger Steak with Mushrooms and Onions Recipe takes your lowly hamburger recipe to an entire new level!


Ingredients

3 sweet onions, sliced

1 (16 ounce) package sliced mushrooms

1 tablespoon olive oil

4 pounds ground beef 

1 yellow onion, grated

1 cup bread crumbs

1 cup milk

2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons dijon mustard

2 eggs 

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon salt

3 packets brown gravy mix with the ingredients to make gravy

 


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Prepare two large baking sheets with aluminum foil and grease with olive oil or spray with nonstick cooking spray.

  2. On the baking sheets, spread the onions and mushrooms. Drizzle with olive oil. Season as desired and toss to evenly coat. Re-spread the vegetables into an even layer.

  3. In a small bowl, combine the bread crumbs and milk, stirring to combine. Set aside for 5 minutes to allow the bread crumbs to absorb the milk.

  4. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, grated onion, soaked breadcrumbs, worcestershire sauce, dijon mustard, eggs, black pepper, and salt. Divide into fifteen patties.

  5. Place the patties over the onions and mushrooms.

  6. Bake for 25 minutes.
