What Do I Need to Make Creamy Chicken Tomato Basil?
- 6 Boneless skinless chicken breasts, halved
- Diced tomatoes
- Tomato sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Italian Seasoning
- Salt and Pepper
- Cream cheese
- Heavy cream
- Fresh basil, for garnish
Can I use Chicken Thighs Instead of Chicken Breast?
This recipe tastes best when using chicken breast cut into small pieces. It is easier to chop into pieces, especially after adding it to the slow cooker for several hours with your cream cheese and tomatoes. If you don’t have chicken breast, you can use chicken thighs, but you’ll need to make sure they’re skinless and boneless before chopping the thighs into pieces.
How Do I Prepare Crock Pot Creamy Chicken Tomato Basil?
I always like to make certain to line my crockpot with cooking spray. This helps to make cleanup easier on down the line! Start by placing the chicken, tomatoes, tomato sauce, garlic, and seasonings into the slow cooker. Be sure to place the cover on the cooker and cook on high for 3 hours or slow for 5 hours.
Once the chicken is thoroughly cooked, carefully remove it from the slow cooker and place to the side. Next, stir the cream cheese into the sauce until melted. Then, add the heavy cream. If you want a thicker sauce, then just mix the water and cornstarch and add it to your slow cooker. Finally, return the chicken breasts to the slow cooker. Serve over the noodles of your choice! Yes and Amen!
