The Ingredients You’re Going to Need
Before you can make this tasty casserole, make sure you have the right ingredients. You’ll need the following:
- Ground Chuck. Use at least two pounds of ground chuck in this casserole.
- Onion. Dice your onion into pieces before you add it in with the other ingredients.
- Tomato Sauce. Grab any brand of tomato sauce. You’ll need one 15-ounce can.
- Cream Cheese. Let your cream cheese sit out for several minutes to soften before using it.
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese. Divide your shredded cheese. You’ll need three cups of it in total.
- Bacon. Cook the bacon, drain it, and then crumble it into pieces.
- Tater Tots. You’ll need a bag of frozen tater tots to complete this recipe.
The other ingredients needed include pepper, salt, Worcestershire sauce, grape tomatoes, and dill pickles. Be sure to cut your tomatoes in quarters and your pickles in half before you add them to the casserole.
Which type of bacon do I need to use?
You can use your favorite brand and flavor of bacon. You can cook it in a frying pan, air fryer, or in the oven. Give your bacon some time to cool down before you begin crumbling into pieces and adding it to your casserole.
Can I use ground turkey in this recipe?
If you’d prefer to make a leaner version of this casserole, ground turkey is an excellent choice. It will taste great with the cheese, tater tots, and bacon.
Can I add veggies to the dish?
You can add some veggies to this dish! Lots of veggies will taste great with the combination of meat, tater tots, and cheese, including peas, diced carrots, and corn. Of course, you don’t need to add anything if you’d prefer to stick with the original recipe.
Will bread and butter pickles taste good in this casserole?

How to freeze the Casserole

You can assemble the dinner in a freezer-safe container, then cover the casserole dish with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, place it in the freezer, and leave it there for a maximum of six months. Ingredients
- 4 pounds ground chuck
- 2 onion, diced
- 2 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 2 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 6 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 2 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 (12 ounce) package bacon, cooked, drained, and crumbled
- 2 (32 ounce) package frozen tater tots
- 2 cup grape tomatoes, quartered
- 1 cup sliced dill pickles, halved
Instructions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Prepare two 9×13 casserole dishes with nonstick cooking spray.

In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the onion, salt, and pepper over medium-high heat until the meat is crumbled. Drain well.

Return the meat to the skillet. Add the cream cheese, 2 cup cheddar cheese, and Worcestershire sauce, stirring until melted.

Transfer the ground beef mixture to the casserole dish. Top with the remaining cheese, the crumbled bacon, and a layer of tater tots.

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until the tater tots are browned and the edges bubble.

Top with tomatoes and pickles.
Notes
To freeze: Cover tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Freeze for up to 6 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before baking.
