What do I need to make the Large Family Instant Pot Bacon and Beef Chili?
Bacon of course! OK, in addition to the package of bacon, you’ll also need an Instant Pot and three pounds of ground beef.
Then, grab these fresh veggies:
- 2 medium onion
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 green bell pepper
- 4 cloves garlic
Next, from the pantry, you’ll need:
- 2 cans diced tomatoes
- 1 (12 ounce) can tomato paste
- 6 cups beef broth
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Then get ready to throw it in the pot and walk away!

How do I make the Large Family Instant Pot Bacon and Beef Chili?
First, set the electric pressure cooker to “saute” until hot, then add the bacon and cook until browned. Remove it and drain it on a paper towel. Then, place the ground beef into the electric pressure cooker and begin cooking, crumbling as it cooks, until almost completely browned. Add the onions and bell peppers. Continue cooking until the meat is no longer pink. Drain well and then return to the pressure cooker. Add the beef broth and scrape the bottom to remove any cooked-on bits. Press cancel to end the “saute” mode.
Next, to the ground beef and vegetables, add the garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt and black pepper. Stir together to combine. Over the beef, pour the tomatoes and tomato paste. Do not mix together.
Place the lid on the electric pressure cooker and set the valve to sealing. Program the electric pressure cooker to “pressure cook” or “manual” for 10 minutes. When the cooking cycle is complete, allow the electric pressure cooker to naturally release the pressure for 10 minutes before performing a quick release of the remaining pressure.
Carefully remove the lid. Stir in the cooked bacon.
Serve with shredded cheese, diced avocado, sour cream, or your favorite toppings.

Ingredients
3 pounds lean ground beef
1 (24 ounce) package bacon, diced

2 (28 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
