It’s easy to make Bisquick mix from scratch. All you need is flour, baking powder, salt, and vegetable shortening. You can store your homemade Bisquick mix in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 months. Then use as a substitute in recipes that require “Bisquick mix.”
What’s the difference between flour and Bisquick?
Flour consists of itself while Bisquick contains flour plus salt, vegetable shortening, and baking powder. You can use Bisquick as a quick short cut in many baking recipes!

Ingredients
- 6 cups flour
- 3 tablespoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 cup vegetable shortening
Instructions

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.

Using a fork, pastry blender, or your fingers, blend in shortening until the mix resembles sand.

Best if stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 4 months. Use as a substitute in recipes that require “Bisquick mix.”
