Some days you just have so many fun activities planned that you leave the house not to return until several hours later. If you have all your ducks in a row, you can start a meal in the slow cooker before you leave. When the recipe is as easy as large family applesauce pork chops, you can do it with your eyes closed. I wouldn’t recommend that but it’s possible.

This is your lucky day because I’m feeling generous and will show you two recipes for the price of one. We ate baked potatoes made in a separate slow cooker with our applesauce pork chops. Oh yes, we did.

Take out 2 slow cookers. Spray one with non stick cooking spray to make clean up easy later. Clean up Jamerrill always loves spray Jamerrill when food slides right out of the slow cooker making clean up a breeze. In the sprayed slow cooker, add your pork chops, applesauce and brown sugar. Put the lid on and cook on high for 4 to 6 hours or on low for 6 to 8 hours.

Now let’s talk potatoes. Scrub a 10 lb bag of potatoes. No one wants to eat dirty potatoes. Add them to a 7 qt slow cooker fitting in as many as you can. It’s ok if not all fit. Turn slow cooker on low for 6 to 8 hours or high for 4 to 6 hours. You don’t need to add water for baked potatoes. It will make them mushy. You will end up with sad potatoes.

After the minimum hours have passed, turn off the slow cookers and start serving up dinner. It doesn’t get any easier. You could add steamed broccoli or carrot sticks as a vegetable to keep with the easy theme. A quick salad would even be good. Don’t overthink it.
