What You Will Need to Make Your Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls

If you plan on making these delicious Large Family Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls (also try my Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls, too!), gather these ingredients to get started and check my kitchen supply list, too:

  • Bread Flour. You will need 4 ½ cups of bread flour to use to create the dough for your cinnamon rolls.
  • Unsalted Butter. Melt your unsalted butter before you use it.
  • Sugar. You will only need a small amount of sugar to enhance the taste of the dough.
  • Bread Machine Yeast. Use this type of yeast or active dry yeast as a substitute to prepare the dough.

You will also need milk, eggs, and salt to prepare the dough for your Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls.

Besides the ingredients for the dough, you will also need the following ingredients to create the cinnamon filling:

  • Unsalted Butter. Soften the butter before you use it.
  • Brown Sugar. Use brown sugar to add a sweet touch to the center of your rolls.
  • Ground Cinnamon. Give your dough that perfect cinnamon touch using ground cinnamon.

You will also need ingredients for the icing, including cream cheese, softened unsalted butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract combined. Don’t forget to try my other bread machine recipes!

Variations of the Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls

If you want to add more to the Large Family Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls, there are several ingredients that will taste great with them. When preparing your cinnamon filling, you can chop peanuts or pecans into small pieces and add them into the mix. The chopped nuts will add a bit of a crunch. Try adding dried cranberries or raisins to your cinnamon filling. Switch up the flavor of the icing that goes on top by using cocoa powder or flavored extracts in the mix.

How to Make-Ahead and Freeze Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls

You can fully bake these rolls ahead of time and freeze them, or you can make the dough and freeze it so you can bake them fresh at a later time. There are lots of options! If you want to freeze or refrigerate them before baking them, these rolls can be refrigerated or frozen prior to the final rise. Then, when you are ready to bake them, they should be brought to room temperature and allowed to double in size prior to baking.

If you prefer to bake them first, then bake them and let them cool. Then wrap them in plastic wrap and foil before placing them in the freezer. You can freeze them after you place the icing on them or you can save the icing to apply after you thaw and heat them if you prefer that.

Large Family Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls

Description

Prepare sweet and wholesome Large Family Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls that you can eat immediately or freeze for later. These make-ahead rolls are perfect to serve for breakfast or a snack.


Ingredients

For the dough:

2 cup milk, heated to 110 degrees

4 eggs, room temperature

2/3 cup unsalted butter, melted

9 cups bread flour

2 teaspoon salt

1 cup sugar

5 teaspoons bread machine or active dry yeast

 

For the filling:

2/3 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 1/2 cup brown sugar

4 tablespoons ground cinnamon

 

For the icing:

2 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, room temperature

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

3 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

 

** Note that you will most likely need to split the dough into two and run each dough in the bread machine separately.


Instructions

 

  1. Place the dough ingredients into the bread machine in the order listed or according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Program for the dough cycle.

  2. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Prepare a 9 x 13-inch casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.

  3. When the dough cycle is completed, punch the dough down and turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough into a large rectangle, approximately 16 inches by 22 inches. If the dough is too elastic to maintain the rectangle shape, allow the dough to rest for 5 minutes and then roll again.

  4. Mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Spread softened butter over the surface of the dough and then sprinkle with the brown sugar mixture, leaving about 1 inch on one wide side without sugar.

  5. Roll up the dough along the long end towards the uncovered side. Pinch to close and place seam-side down. Cut the dough into 12 equal portions. Transfer to the prepared casserole dish.

  6. Cover the casserole dish and place in a warm location to rise for 30 to 60 minutes or until doubled.

  7. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until the cinnamon rolls are cooked through and beginning to brown slightly.

  8. Meanwhile, beat together the ingredients for the icing.

  9. When the cinnamon rolls are ready, spread the icing over the rolls.


Notes

*Note: These rolls can be refrigerated or frozen prior to the final rise. They should be brought to room temperature and allowed to double in size prior to baking.
