Large Family Low Carb Cabbage Roll Casserole is Trim Healthy Mama friendly. Plus, it can feed your whole family. A win-win!
Ingredients
- 4 pounds ground beef
- 2 onion, diced
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 (15 ounces) cans tomato sauce
- 2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
- 1 teaspoon dried dill
- 1/2 teaspoon ground sage
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne
- 2 head cabbage, cored and coarsely chopped
- 2 cup mozzarella cheese (leave off cheese or replace it with a dairy-free version for a dairy-free meal.)
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Prepare two 9×13 casserole dishes with nonstick cooking spray.

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef with the onion, crumbling the beef as it cooks. When the beef is no longer pink, stir in the garlic. Drain the beef well and return to the skillet.

Add 2 cans of tomato sauce to the skillet with the dry seasonings. Stir and simmer over medium-high heat for 2 to 3 minutes.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef sauce and cabbage, stirring until the cabbage is coated in the sauce.

Transfer the combination to the prepared baking dishes. Top with the remaining 2 cans of tomato sauce.

Cover the dishes with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.

Remove the aluminum foil and add the cheese in an even layer.

Return the casserole to the oven and continue baking for 10 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
Notes
To make this dish dairy-free leave off the mozzarella cheese or replace it with a dairy-free version.
