What You’ll Need to Make the Low Carb Ham and Cheese Casserole

When preparing the Low Carb Ham and Cheese Casserole, you won’t need a lot of ingredients. You’re going to need the following items to make this dish:

  • Diced Ham. Buy packages of diced ham or chop ham into pieces.
  • Mayo. Use any brand of mayo when adding a ½ cup of it to this casserole.
  • Prepared Mustard. You can use  your favorite brand and style of prepared mustard in this recipe.
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese. The cheese melts perfectly over the eggs and ham to create a creamy and flavorful meal.
  • Eggs. You’ll need to use at least eight eggs when making this casserole.

You can also add salt and pepper to your casserole to give it more flavor. Feel free to add additional spices that you’d normally use when making eggs, such as cajun seasoning or cayenne pepper to make the dish spicier.

Why do I need to use mayo in this recipe?

Adding mayo to this recipe might seem strange, but it keeps the eggs from becoming too dry when you’re baking them. You won’t taste the mayo when you’re eating the casserole, but it’s an important ingredient to use.

What does the prepared mustard do in this recipe?

The prepared mustard adds a slight tang to this recipe. It makes the Low Carb Ham and Cheese Casserole more flavorful. Although it contributes to the dish, it doesn’t create an overpowering taste.

Which type of ham do I need to use?

Use diced ham for this recipe. You can buy diced ham at the grocery store or purchase a ham steak and chop it into small pieces. Use your favorite type of ham, such as smoked ham or honey ham. You’ll have a few different types of hams to choose from, all of which will taste good with eggs and cheese.

Do I have to use shredded cheddar cheese?

While you don’t need to use shredded cheddar cheese, it’s a flavorful cheese that melts perfectly over the ham and eggs. If you don’t like cheddar cheese, you can use American cheese or other types of shredded cheeses that can melt well while adding more flavor to the Large Family Low Carb Ham and Cheese Casserole.
