- Diced Green Chiles. Add a bit of spice to your casserole with the diced green chiles.
You are going to need a few other ingredients, including a green bell pepper, beef broth, lime juice, fiesta blend cheese, and assorted seasonings/spices.
Can I Make the Dish Using Ground Turkey?
You can use ground turkey as an alternative for the ground beef in this recipe. If you do not want to use ground beef, ground chicken is another alternative that works in this recipe. Feel free to use a combo of both ground turkey and ground beef if you would like to make this casserole a bit leaner.
Do I Use Fresh Lime Juice?
It is good to use the juice of fresh lime instead of using bottled lime juice. While you can use the bottled lime juice, consider buying a lime for this recipe so that you can cut it and squeeze the juice into the slow cooker.
Do I Have to Use a Green Bell Pepper?
The green bell pepper goes great with this dish. It contributes to the flavor of the large family casserole. However, you can always use different bell peppers, such as orange, yellow, or red peppers. No matter which one you use, be sure to cut it and remove the seeds from it.
What Can I Do If I Do Not Have Beef Broth?
If you do not have beef broth, you can make it using water and beef bouillon cubes. After you prepare it in a mixing bowl, you can toss it right into the slow cooker with the rest of your ingredients.
What Can I Make with the Enchilada Casserole?
Serve your enchilada casserole with a side of brown rice in the instant pot, cheesy asparagus spears, or healthy green bean casserole. Your chicken tastes great with pasta or potatoes, try making mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, or cheesy potatoes to go with it. It is versatile enough to go with lots of sides, including roasted vegetables.
How Long Does It Take to Make?
Once you have added the ingredients to the slow cooker, you can set it on low for six hours or on high for three hours to have it ready a bit faster.
