Ingredients to Use to Prepare Cranberry Sauce
If you plan on making the Make-Ahead Cranberry Sauce, you should have the following ingredients ready to use:
- Fresh Cranberries. Fresh cranberries are a must for this recipe. They make the sauce taste fresh and full of flavor.
- Brown Sugar. Use brown sugar for a touch of sweetness that brings out the natural cranberry taste even more.
- White Sugar. Much like the brown sugar, using white sugar is important to enhance the sauce.
- Orange Juice. Orange juice is an important component in this Make-Ahead Cranberry Sauce, giving it a slightly acidic touch.
- Ground Cinnamon. Use some cinnamon to create a flavor that is reminiscent of the holiday season. Cinnamon mixes perfectly with the taste of fresh cranberries.
Using these and a few other ingredients is the best way to quickly and easily prepare the Make-Ahead Cranberry Sauce.
How to Store the Make-Ahead Cranberry Sauce for Later in the Freezer
Because you can prepare the Make-Ahead Cranberry Sauce in advance, you need to know how to store it properly. The best way to store the sauce is to add it to an airtight container or freezer bag and put it in the freezer. You can keep the sauce frozen for up to six months before thawing it out and using it.
When you do plan on using it, you should pull it out of the freezer the night before to give it some extra time to defrost. If you are not freezing it, put the Make-Ahead Cranberry Sauce in the refrigerator where you can keep it fresh for up to five days.
What to Do With Your Make-Ahead Cranberry Sauce
While serving the Make-Ahead Cranberry Sauce on the side at Thanksgiving dinner is a given, you can do even more with this sauce than you can imagine. You can prepare sandwiches with leftovers that would consist of a roll with turkey slices, stuffing, and cranberry sauce on top. You can use it as a glaze for ham and even put it on toasted bread.
