What Is a Sub Sandwich?
A sub sandwich, also known as a hoagie in some parts of the country, typically consists of a long roll with assorted lunch meat. It may contain ham, roast beef, turkey, and various other cuts of meat that will taste good when added to the dinner roll with seasonings, toppings, and different dressings. While often served for a simple lunch, you can have a sub sandwich for a delicious dinner, too.
The Best Deli Meats to Add to the Toasted Sub Sheet Pan Sandwiches
When making these Large Family Toasted Sub Sheet Pan Sandwiches, you should have the following deli meats ready to use:
- Black Forest Ham
- Sliced Hard Salami
- Sliced Pepperoni
Along with the deli meats, you will use sliced provolone for your cheese. If you do not eat one of these deli meats, you can leave it out or replace it with a different type of deli meat that you do like.
What Soup or Salad would go with the Toasted Sub Sheet Pan Sandwiches?
You might be thinking that you want to expand this meal into a soup and sandwiches meal. Great idea, and I’ve got you covered! Expanding it into a warm soupy meal is a great idea on a cold day. This meal would go great with my Stuffed Pepper Stew, a nice Minestrone Soup, Tortellini Sausage Soup, or even a vegetable beef soup.
On the other side, maybe it’s warmer outside and you prefer adding something cold. I’ve got a Grilled Chicken Berry Blue Salad, Marinated Cucumber Salad, Cranberry Apple Salad, and a Layered Spring Salad.
Can I Make this Dairy-Free?
The provolone cheese melts perfectly and tastes great with the marinara sauce and deli meats. However, if you want to make this a dairy-free dish, you can skip the provolone cheese altogether, and replace the butter with an oil of your choice. You can also replace the cheese with a dairy-free cheese alternative of your choice.
