PrintDescription
Create a sweet citrus-like seafood meal with this Large Family Style Orange Tilapia Sheet Pan Dinner Recipe. The fish and veggie dish is naturally good, easy to put together, and tasty!
Ingredients
- 12 frozen tilapia filets, thawed
- 4 ½ cups orange juice, for marinating
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the topping:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
- 2 ¼ cup panko bread crumbs
- ¾ cup orange juice
- 6 cloves garlic, minces
- 3 tablespoons minced fresh basil
For the vegetables:
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- Salt and black pepper, as desired
- 2 pounds asparagus, trimmed
- 2 red onions, sliced
Instructions
-
Pour the 4 ½ cups orange juice into a resealable plastic bag. Add the tilapia filets, squeeze the bag removing all excess air, and seal the bag. Marinate the fish in the refrigerator 3 hours to overnight.
-
When ready to cook, preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Prepare two large rimmed baking sheets by lining with aluminum foil and spray lightly with nonstick cooking spray.
-
In a large mixing bowl, cut together the butter, panko, and basil. Stir in the orange juice and garlic.
-
Remove the tilapia from the orange juice, discarding the marinade, and pat with paper toweling to remove excess liquid. Salt and pepper on both sides as desired.
-
Arrange the filets on the sheet pans, leaving space between for the vegetables with the asparagus and sliced red onions.
-
Spread the butter mixture over the top of each filet to cover each completely.
-
Toss the asparagus in olive oil and season with salt and pepper as desired.
-
Around the fish, add the asparagus and onions.
-
Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes or until the fish flakes easily with a fork. To give the topping a crunch, turn on the broiler over the fish for about 3 to 5 minutes, watching carefully to avoid burning.
Notes
*This recipe requires a 3 hour marinade time to taste the best. Be sure to account for that when planning your meal. You can also marinate it overnight if that is easier.
